Missy received her 200-hour certification in June, 2015, from Synergy Yoga Studio in Richmond, VA, a program accredited and approved by Yoga Alliance, the national association for yoga. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance (Registered Yoga Teacher). She has taught both private and studio classes.
Missy trained in the Himalayan tradition, which focuses on alignment and breath awareness. She has found that her true joy is working one-on-one with students. This way, she can focus the session on the student's particular needs. She is a big believer in the use of props and modifications as pathways for the student to achieve their most beneficial pose. Also, she believes that since we feel differently from day to day, our needs differ on a daily basis. That is why it is important to move the body in the way that it needs THAT DAY, so that we can continue to move forward on our journey of wellness. This is another benefit of private sessions that may not be present in a studio class setting.
Yoga is a wonderful tool for anyone working toward and maintaining wellness. It helps with stress management, flexibility, strength, anatomical and physiological stabilization, balance, cardiovascular fitness, and many other health-related issues.
